Our Childcare Philosophy
“Life is so much more enjoyable when you put on your boots and jump in the puddles instead of moping and waiting for the clouds to part.” - heather
We believe children are capable, inspiring, brave, curious, and valuable members of our community. We use positive guidance strategies and encouraging words to help support children to become self-regulating individuals who value their own skills and abilities while also respecting and valuing the diversity of others. We prepare our curriculum based on the emergent style which is a balance of the children’s interests and ideas as well as implementing teacher-led activities; a delicate balance of leading and following. We find great value in being outside everyday and allowing them to explore the natural environment, to interact with nature, and observe and discover the changes in the seasons. We speak using inclusive and respectful language and support children through conflict by "problem-solving", and talking in a way that is firm when needed but also supportive and loving. We give children choice and autonomy over their lives (with boundaries and guidance) so that they will be competent and capable adults in society who can self-regulate and make safe, kind choices for themselves and others. We value children for everything that they are and everything that they are becoming.
Heather completely understands how important it is to find not just good care for your child, but the right care for your child. Puddleduck Daycare is built to help your child feel joyful and at ease when they are here. When they come to Puddleduck it’s not just childcare, but more like a second home.
