“Hi, I’m Heather, the creator, owner, and lead caregiver of Puddleduck Daycare & Playschool. It has been a long road making this vision into a reality. Being able to work with children and help them grow and develop confidence and social skills in a space I created is wonderful in so many ways. I believe we’ve created something truly special.”

Past Parent Review : from Kristin
“When you join Puddleduck you gain more than a daycare experience, you become part of a community. Heather and Keigan are phenomenal and experienced and they take great care in their interactions with every child. Under their leadership our son grew leaps and bounds developmentally, socially, and emotionally in just a few short months…”

Outside Time
There are so many benefits to taking children outside. We go outside to play, explore, and experience nature multiple times a day. It takes a lot more than a little rain to keep us inside.
We highly encourage all our parents to invest in good rain coats (and pants) and have a pair of rain boots to keep at daycare.
Free Play & Learning
In our experience as mothers, childcare workers, nannies, and backed by official studies, it has shown that toddlers and preschool aged children learn BEST when it is integrated into their play. Whether it’s learning letters, counting, colors, or social / emotional skills, especially social and emotional skills. These little people we love so much have big feelings and need guidance on how to handle those emotions. We integrate learning social emotional skills as well as basic preschool knowledge right into our games, songs, and other activities.
Our inside space has been designed to have a free flowing floor plan but also have designated areas for certain types of toys. To see our inside space go to the Inside Gallery.
Coloring & Crafts
Coloring materials are always available during free play or outside time if it’s dry.
Sidewalk chalk is also available to draw on the patio.
We do special crafts every week, sometimes multiple times a week. These special projects typically correlate with the season or a subject we are exploring such as trucks, pets, shapes, letters, etc…
We don’t gender stereotype toys.
Toys are toys, for all. We don’t stop the fun because of a toy’s color; pink / blue. We don’t push children to play with certain types of toys either. We let them choose what they want to play with, whether that’s a baby doll, a puzzle, a truck, the play kitchen, or pinecones they find outside. We encourage children to explore more in what they find interest in as an individual.
*Along with not stereotyping toys, we also have books and conversations about how there are different kinds of families, not just the standard mom and dad, and how love is what makes a family. We are a safe space for families in the LGBTQ community. All are welcome here.
