Heather Wilson
owner + Lead Teacher.
I have been working with children for over a decade in various positions such as a private nanny, preschool teacher assistant, daycare center, being an aunt, and also a mother. I received my Bachelors from Seattle University in the Fine Arts. I enjoy writing poetry, photography, board games, slow mornings with french toast and coffee, and singing in the Sonoro Women’s Choir.
I’ve been married to Cory since 2014 but have known him long before that. He is a big help to the daycare, helping out with our end of the day cleaning and yard maintenance. Our daughter, Juniper (Juni for short), is our miracle baby; born premature in February of 2021. She is a curious and joyful little girl who finds delight in everything she does. She loves musical instruments, books, dogs, animal figurines, and playing outside as long as possible.
We love living in the PNW, and enjoy the beautiful area by camping, gardening and going for small hikes in the woods. We enjoy it so much Cory adopted part of the Clarkcreek Puyallup loop trail. We visit it almost every Saturday morning as a family to walk in the woods, throw rocks into the stream and clean up any garbage along the way.
We bought our house in 2017 and since have started a bit of an urban farm with a vegetable and wildflower garden, and chickens. The daycare children get to watch the interact through the fence with the chickens daily, and watch me toss the food scraps to them. We also have two cats, Willow and Hazel. The daycare is not attached to the house so the children have no contact with the pets.
I feel honored to care for the children at Puddleduck Daycare. I have given this place everything I’ve got to make it feel amazingly welcoming and fun. Just like being a parent, I know there will be difficult days, but with patience and understanding I believe Puddleduck Daycare will be a place with many rays of sunshine, even when it’s raining. Life is so much more enjoyable when you put on your boots and jump in puddles instead of moping and waiting for the clouds to part.
Keigan Turner
Substitute
Keigan was a huge part of making Puddleduck come to life and set the tone for our warm and welcoming environment. She was with us for our first two years of being open but needed to move on to the next chapter of her life. We miss her a lot, but occasionally can be a substitute for half days when needed.
